ERIN LUNA
Erin Lina is a senior at Seton Hall University and a Pre-K teacher in Fairfield, New Jersey. She will graduate this fall with a Bachelor’s in Policy, Justice and Administration and Integrated Elementary and Special Education. She anticipates pursuing a Master’s in Education in order to become an elementary school teacher. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, and the founder/president of the Education Club. As president, she has conducted events and field spearheaded field research in order to develop an understanding of the importance of education in urban and diverse communities.
She is compassionate, empathetic, and understanding. She enjoys writing, reading, and traveling. She is an avid animal lover who embraces life in every form.
DARLENE BENJAMIN
Darlene Benjamin is a junior in the Stillman School of Business at seton Hall University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Throughout her academic career she has earned many achievements including recognition on the Dean’s List. Darlene has always had a passion for volunteering and giving back to the community. She has worked with organizations like Lunch Break of Red Bank where she led the food drive and St. Peter’s Thrift Shop. Her work ethic has resulted in multiple promotions and leadership responsibilities.
She is a native of Freehold Township, New Jersey. She enjoys listening to music and college basketball. She considers her family one of her greatest inspirations and is excited to be a Hope Fellow.
JASMINE PARKER
Jasmine Parker is a junior at Seton Hall University studying Public Relations. She is a member of the National Council of Negro Women, the Public Relations Student Society of America, as well as the current Secretary and Treasurer of the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society. Currently, she is a teacher for Newark Public Schools, working primarily at Thirteenth Ave./Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School. While there, she has garnered a reputation among the staff and students as a trusted professional.
She describes herself as an easygoing and empathetic person who enjoys laughing and making others laugh. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family. She lives in East Orange, New Jersey.
KALLI HARTMAN
Kalli Hartman is a senior at Seton Hall University studying Public Relations and Communications. Her rigorous participation in the Public Relations Student Society of America and Litore Agency has provided many opportunities, including her current internship at the West Orange Arts Council.
She is involved with SHU's Upward Bound program where she mentors high school students from lower-income families. Kalli also facilitates lessons in the Peer-to-Peer Leadership program for college freshman and is active on the Student Organization Advisory Committee.
Kalli is outgoing, optimistic and personable. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her dog and travelling. Kalli lives in South Orange, New Jersey.
HOPE PROJECT
College-aged students - Hope Fellows - from diverse backgrounds, and academic interests participate in a semester long service-learning project. Monthly gatherings focus on strengthening leadership capabilities like community organizing, systems thinking, and communication.
